On this page, we will link to past meetings of the FRIB Users Organization as well as other related meetings.
January 8 - 9, 2011:
"Advances in Nuclear Radiation Detectors and Technologies"
The Workshop on “Advances in Nuclear Radiation Detectors and Technologies for Rare Isotope Science” was held on January 8 and 9, 2011 at the Fiber Optics Auditorium of Rutgers University in Piscataway, NJ. The purpose of this Workshop was to bring together scientists and engineers to discuss new technologies and materials for charged particle detectors and scintillators and to develop a future program to bring these new technologies into the research laboratories. More information can also be found on the workshop website: http://sawg.physics.fsu.edu/Rutgers.
November, 2010: "Reaction Theory for FRIB"
A mini symposium entitled "Reaction Theory for FRIB" was held at the DNP meeting
in Fall 2010. Direct reactions with rare isotope beams will be an important part of the
science program at future facilities such as FRIB. It is essential
to develop reaction theory valid for these
exotic nuclei and understand well the uncertainties involved and the level
of accuracy that can be expected. This mini-symposium, part of the
DNP Fall meeting in Santa Fe on November 3-6, 2010, brought together
the few-body community and the many-body community to discuss promising
developments and stimulate new ideas in the field. It was organized by
Filomena Nunes, Akram Mukhamedzhanov, and Kate Jones
(for the DNP program committee).
August 2010: "Radiochemistry at FRIB":
A symposium "Radiochemistry at FRIB" was held during the Fall 2010 National Meeting
of the American Chemical Society on August 22-26, 2010 in Boston, MA.
The symposium provided a forum to discuss the potential for the harvesting and processing of "designer" isotopes for basic and
applied research programs. Topics included:
- present North American isotope production capabilities and outlook
- society applications in medicine, environment, materials studies, etc.
- nuclear science applications in astrophysics, reactions, structure, etc.
- stewardship and security applications

February 2010: FRIB Equipment Meeting:
There was a
Workshop on experimental equipment needs at FRIB
on February 20-22, 2010 on the campus of Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan.
The goals of this meeting were to ensure that alternatives for experimental equipment have been
considered, that adequate space is provided in the experimental halls,
and that all users communicate their specific equipment needs to FRIB and to each
other.
